An Autumn Ride on the Crescent Trail

I had a challenging ride on October 12th, a sunny, pleasant autumn Sunday in DC.  It all went smoothly as I rode on the wide Mass Av sidewalks to 18th and I where I registered for the upcoming IMF World Bank meeting. I then set out to return home on the Crescent Trail (wider red line). I rode along K Street, continuing under the Southwest Freeway to the beginning of the trail at Key Bridge. A mile past Georgetown my rear tire went flat. I walked back to G’town and up the narrow tiered stairs to M Street.  I was lucky to find the Trek bicycle shop open and they could immediately repair the flat ($28). Alex was a skilled, efficient and personable bike mechanic. I then set out again and took about an hour to get home on the trail.  Along the way there was a deer, a great blue heron, and a lot of cyclists.

Progress.

Probably 12 to 15 miles total
