In this podcast Alec Hogg, publisher of South Africa focused biznews.com, leads a discussion reflecting on the extraordinary career of George Palmer, the long serving editor of the Financial Mail in Johannesburg.  Palmer died in early January just short of his 93d birthday in Palm Springs, CA.  Under his tough and demanding leadership  the Financial Mail in the 1970s courageously resisted government bullying and maintained a principled stand against racial discrimination.  I was fortunate to begin  my journalistic career as one of the Palmer’s writers.
